Resumen

“A Elvira con Cariño” es una película documental chilena, estrenada en enero del año 2010 y realizada por el Trabajador Social y Director de la Carrera de Trabajo Social en Universidad de Las Américas Sede Viña del Mar, Alberto Blest Iceta, que relata la lucha por sobrevivir, por la verdad y justicia de Doña Elvira Gómez, viuda de Luis Almonacid Arellano, dirigente social y político asesinado por un piquete de carabineros el 16 de septiembre del año 1973.\ Relata en primera persona el sufrimiento y dolor de Elvira con el asesinato frente a ella de su marido, además de la abnegación por criar sola a sus tres hijos menores. Además, de su incansable trabajo por la búsqueda de la verdad, justicia en el caso de su cónyuge.\ Una historia imperdible, profunda, dolorosa, pero también de resiliencia, lucha y reivindicación. \

Resumen

There is much to learn from female leadership, with implications for advancing and recognizing the role of women and girls in societal transformation, past and present. In recognition of international organizations like UNESCO focusing on the significant role of African women in development, research into full and more accurate accounts of such leadership is urgently needed to contribute to this important knowledge. As a key case in point, Yaa Asantewaa is one of Africa’s most undervalued women leaders. As a leader of the Asante military (now Ghana) in the late 1800’s, her revolt and defeat of a battle against the British army have been downplayed due to her gender. The portrayals of her are misrepresentations, demeaning her accomplishments and resulting in biased views held by Ghanaians, as well as African leaders, since her death in 1921. All too often these African women are disregarded by researchers and, with some rare exceptions, are excluded from historiography of Africa and are portrayed through a male patriarchal lens. A transdisciplinary team from Ghana and Canada (social work, archaeology, political science) conducted a case study of Yaa Asantewaa to reconsider her leadership in the war against the British and to critically examine her role in the context of attitudes related to women leaders in Ghana and beyond. Using a post-colonial feminist lens our creative performing arts session will present a more accurate account of Yaa Asantewaa through a documentary produced from this research. Through this presentation, it is hoped that other historical African women will be reexamined for the vital role they played in the development of Africa adding knowledge to the subtheme of gender and diversity. The presentation will give an introduction (5 minutes) and will show the documentary of Yaa Asantewaa’s incredible story (25 minutes).

Resumen

La poesía a presentar tiene como tema la democracia, abordándola de manera más amplia, entendiendo que la verdadera democracia sólo será posible cuando los sueños no sean robados por una bala perdida o cuando la gente no muera esperando una cama de hospital, donde habrá\  comida en la mesa, valoración de los pequeños agricultores, en la que no habrá retirada de dinero de los derechos sociales en beneficio de los ricos. Los pequeños comerciantes no serán absorbidos por los grandes monopolios comerciales. En una democracia real, los pueblos indígenas tendrán sus tierras preservadas, el suelo y la tierra no serán contaminados, la Amazonía será preservada. Los activistas no serán amenazados ni asesinados. Los niños no trabajarán en el faro ni los negros sufrirán la necro política. Una democracia real tendrá derechos sociales garantizados con comida en la mesa, vivienda, empleo, arte, trabajo y ocio. Se democratizarán los espacios de poder, ya no un espacio blanco, masculino y rico, sino un espacio de poder difuso y diverso ocupado por diferentes etnias y géneros, gente del campo, gente que ha pasado hambre, refugiados, personas con discapacidad, entre otros. Las ciudades tendrán jardines urbanos, centros culturales y accesibilidad. La gente será libre de amar a quien quiera. El pueblo será escuchado y tendrá fácil acceso a sus derechos, no siendo tratado como un proceso, caso o problema. En otras palabras, busca cuestionar si la supuesta democracia brasileña es realmente democracia o no, dado que hay lugares donde sólo han llegado balas, muertes y cárceles, trabajo infantil y balas perdidas, la justicia tiene dos medidas y los representantes de este sistema, en su mayoría, defienden los intereses de los ricos y poderosos, defendiendo la concentración de la tierra y la retirada de derechos en favor de intereses privados. ¿Sería la democracia real una utopía?

Resumen

The Master of Social Work (MSW) Program at HAN University of Applied Sciences educate social work professionals into social practice developers who want to improve their practice from within by conducting practitioner research.\ An important goal of the MSW is to bridge the gap between practice and science and to bend the anti-intellectual current in social work by concentrating on practice improvement (Van Pelt et al., 2015).\ The Master of social work program revolves around three integrated programmes: Social Work Theory, Research \& Improvement and Professional Leadership.From the start of the study, students work on practice improvement project within their own organization in which taking multiple perspectives is mandatory.In the program Professional Leadership, we aim to educate and inspire students for leadership in connection and co-creation at three levels:The connection with yourself\ ​The connection with de client, the social system and the stakeholders\ The connection with the surrounding organizations and societyThe presence of different perspectives strenghtens the exploring attitude and helps avoiding false assumptions and blind spots among students, teachers, social workers and other stakeholders.\ By including these different levels of connection they become leaders in connection who pursue supported social change and development by all stakeholders involved.\ \ The goal is: Making a difference by embracing differences.\ We would like to introduce one of the tools we introduce during the master social work, the protective wraps model (Tjin A Djie \& Zwaan, 2021).\  Everyone, regardless of personal or professional background, can make use of it. Apart from care workers, also police officers, theater makers, midwives, civil servants and university college teachers. It’s all about safety at the workplace, knowing your history, doing justice to yourself and establishing relationships with others based on your contact with yourself.
