When specific groups are disproportionately incarcerated, it limits their access to economic and social opportunities, perpetuating poverty and exclusion. Gender inequality in the implementation of social policies contributes to the marginalization of women, hindering the achievement of gender equality.To achieve the SDGs, it is crucial to adopt inclusive and equitable social policies that address the systemic inequalities leading to mass incarceration.
